FAQs
Get answers to the common questions that we are asked about:
How is polished concrete made?
The art of concrete polishing is made up of several steps. Initially, professional concrete installers cut slabs to size and mechanically ground them to a proper thickness. Polishing is able to be completed while the concrete is dry or wet. After the concrete polishing agent has been applied, a densifier will be used to lock in the polishing chemicals. The densifier is dried and cured until the concrete is properly hardened. Final minor abrasive cuts refine the concrete surface and ensure the desired level of reflectivity.
What is the best way to clean polished concrete?
Clean water and a wet mop is the absolute best way to clean polished concrete. While this product is built to last, cleaning up dirt, debris, and other grime on a weekly basis will ensure the longevity of your concrete flooring. In addition, using a pH neutral cleaner on a regular basis will lead to suspended dirt particles that are easy to remove.
Does polished concrete retain heat?
Polished concrete is one of the best flooring options for Wisconsin during the winter. Due to concrete’s thermal properties, it’s able to store and radiate heat. Meaning, that any natural light that the polished concrete is exposed to will be absorbed and put back into the room. Leaving an extra bit of heat throughout the cold winter nights. In the summer, concrete will cool down during the night and keep the room chill during the day. Modern homes also have vapor barriers installed underneath concrete slabs to prevent dampness and the accumulation of water.
